Menu Plan Monday 07/09 - 07/15

This past week sure has been a full one.  Here's my week in pictures:

We celebrated Independece Day with a BBQ with some friends and family.   Then we watched fireworks from our driveway with our kids, as well as let them do a few sparklers.  The weather also has been heating up here.  The forecast this week is predicting 100+ degrees for the week.  Eeek!  I foresee lots of ice pops and sprinkler time for the kids.  Saturday the kids and I spent some time with my mom and sister; they had fun being goofballs all through lunch ☺.  We finished off the week by having a picnic in our backyard, enjoying the nice shade of our table umbrella (without that, I think lunch would have been an inside affair for sure with the heat).

Our dinner's went smoothly for the most part as well.  Sunday was the only day we really didn't follow suit (we ended up just grilling hot dogs and hamburgers instead of having the planned meal), but I'd say 6/7 meals is not too bad.

Saturday was the first day for my *maybe* weekly attempt at Something New Saturday.  We had Mexican Chicken Breasts, and I'd say for the first 'something new', it was pretty successful.  The kids ate it, and I thought it was pretty flavorful for something so simple.  Hopefully this week's experiment will be equally successful.

Here's our plan for the upcoming week:

Monday
Homemade Pizza

Tuesday
Leftovers

Wednesday
Chicken Salad

Thursday
Macaroni and Hamburger
Vegetables
Crescents

Friday
Lasagna
Salad
Bread

Saturday
Honey Mustard Grilled Chicken** (new)
Corn on the Cob
Baked Potatoes

Sunday
Mini Meatloaves
Vegetables

This week I'm trying to keep it pretty simple as well as try to keep it pretty much a crowd pleasing week.  In fact, my son helped plan this entire week.  The only thing he was not so keen on was leftover night, and the salad part of the chicken salad.

So what's your family having this week?  Not sure still?  Need some more inspiration?  Check out Laura's menu planning link up party at orgjunkie.com for some more great menu planning ideas!  One of the plans on there is sure to catch your eye and help you solve the never ending dilemma:  What's for dinner?

  1. I'm popping in for a visit from Organizing Junkie's Menu Plan Monday today!
Sounds like you had a terrific July 4th!
You have a delicious menu planned. It's good to have the kids help plan meals, shop and prepare. We started our son out when he was around 2 or3 yrs old. Now he's 20 yrs old and makes the best Pot Roast!
I hope you continue to enjoy the summer in your neck of the woods.
Can you believe we were already at 101 degrees at 10am, in Las Vegas?!
